As well as the fine collection of objects and documents, visitors can make us of an extensive reference library. Of particular interest, the section on local history contains the collective writings of TGF Paterson, the first Curator of Armagh County Museum. Other sections include family histories; church history; archaeology; railways and transport; folk life and genealogy. You can check the availability of a book by contacting us directly.

The library holds runs of a number of major journals including:

A selection of articles written by TGF Paterson are published in the book Harvest Home: available from the Museum at a bargain price of £4.95. Harvest Home was published in 1975 to commemorate Paterson's contribution to local history. As quoted in the introduction, 'George Paterson was one of the old school of field-scientists who traversed the country and was interested in everything he saw or heard, especially in history, ethnology and folk-lore'. A flavour of his wide ranging interests can be gauged from the index to this book.

Harvest Home also contains another index at the back to a further 24 unpublished volumes known as Armachiana or 'Armagh Miscellanea'. This is the most unique local history resource in county Armagh and is further testimony to TGF Paterson's research interests. Unlike Harvest Home, it is not available for purchase but is held in the Museum's library in typed and bound volumes.
